Through a robust and scalable automation architecture, Altus delivered a high-performance control system designed to enhance process reliability, increase production consistency, and reduce downtime. The solution enables precise monitoring and control of critical variables, ensuring superior product quality while optimizing overall plant productivity.

High Performance Control System

The solution required three Nexto buses, one main and two expansions, managed by an NX3020 CPU with over 5,000 communication tags integrated into the supervision and control software.

The solution was structured around three Nexto System buses, one main rack and two expansion racks, all managed by an NX3020 CPU. The architecture integrates more than 5,000 communication tags into the plant’s supervision and control software, ensuring comprehensive real-time monitoring and high data availability. Operating through the open MODBUS TCP protocol, the system features:

– 16 NX1001 digital input modules – 12 NX2001 digital output modules – 5 NX6000 analog input modules – 3 NX6001 analog output modules – 3 NX4000 modules – 3 NX8000 power supply modules – 1 NX5001 communication and fieldbus module for PROFIBUS-DP – 23 frequency inverters.

This robust configuration delivers high processing capacity, reliable field communication, and precise control of critical variables, supporting stable and efficient operation across the entire production process.

The high technology used and its advanced scalar architecture, which allows easy integration with the most traditional supervisory systems, make the NX Series programmable controllers the ideal solution for the project. The equipment in the series has an internal bus based on deterministic Ethernet with the possibility of expansion to up to 24 remote racks, each with a capacity of 24 modules, totaling 320 I/O points per rack.

The NX Series also features MasterTool, a complete tool for programming, debugging, configuring, and simulating user applications. With a modern and customizable, object-oriented interface, the software allows the development of advanced functions such as process variable manipulation, recipe management, PID blocks, and timers.
