High efficiency sludge dewatering system

Altus was responsible for the specification and development of the automation project for the sludge dewatering system at the Novo Mundo Wastewater Treatment Plant. This initiative is part of the Tietê River Depollution Program, led by Sabesp in São Paulo, Brazil, which aims to restore and preserve one of the most important water resources in the region.

Through this project, Altus further strengthens its presence in the environmental wtaer and wastewater sector, delivering highly reliable technology to support large-scale initiatives focused on water resource recovery, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Advanced automation for the sludge dewatering system

The system supplied by Altus for the Novo Mundo Wastewater Treatment Plant operates as an interface between the equipment responsible for the mechanical sludge dewatering process, carried out through filter presses.

The solution includes a panel-mounted PLC dedicated to controlling each stage of the dewatering process, along with a supervisory system that enables real-time monitoring, remote operation, and detailed analysis of operational data.

One of the project’s key differentiators is the communication gateway. In addition to enabling seamless integration between the PLC and the supervisory system, the gateway allows the new automation solution to interface with the plant’s existing process network, an infrastructure previously developed and supplied by Altus.
