Filling Machines

Control system development

Altus' programmable controller technology was chosen to equip Josmaq's new filling machines, contributing to the automation of the new line of high-precision machines aimed at the production of yogurts and dairy beverages.

Precision filling powered by Altus technology

Developed collaboratively by the client’s engineering team and our OEM specialists, the architecture applied to the Josmaq filling machines features the XP300, a programmable controller from the XP family, as the centerpiece of the control system.

The XP300 was selected for its high performance and versatility, offering 16 digital inputs, 16 digital transistor outputs, an Ethernet port, an RS-485 serial channel, a CAN port, and a USB interface. With its high I/O density, the Xpress PLC seamlessly interacts with the equipment that controls various machine processes.

The system features a 7” touchscreen HMI from the P2 family, six E3 frequency inverters from the Optidrive series, and a sequence of sensors and solenoid valves. The HMI is used for recipe input and system monitoring, communicating with the controller via the Modbus TCP protocol.

The frequency inverters control the conveyor belt, table rotation mechanism, and the four pumps and dosing nozzles that handle the yogurt filling. These devices receive commands through a CANopen network connected to the embedded CAN interface in the Xpress PLC.

Additionally, sensors track the precise position of bottles at each stage of the filling process, while solenoid valves, triggered by the fast outputs on the XP300, control the yogurt flow into each bottle.
