Now, the software’s latest update introduces enhancements that make the user experience even more practical, productive, and intuitive.

In the following paragraphs, check out the main features and benefits of Mastertool X.

Support for redundant power supply modules HX8305 and HX8325

Mastertool now features native support for Nexto HX redundant power supplies. These models were designed with input voltage flexibility (fiber-optic bus expansion) to meet the requirements of the most critical industrial environments:

– HX8305: Module for traditional industrial control networks operating on 24 Vdc (supporting a wide dynamic range from 19.2 to 30 Vdc).

– HX8325: Module for harsh power substation environments, operating on high-voltage 125 Vdc (supporting a dynamic range from 100 to 150 Vdc).

At the operational level, the integrator configures and parameterizes these modules directly on the rack’s physical bus within Mastertool itself. The software enables the dynamic reading of integrated diagnostic tags and the Electronic Tag on Display feature, which shows the logical tag and the module description directly on the controller’s display.

As a result, maintenance teams can precisely identify each module in the field without ambiguity or the need for external documentation. This reduces operational errors and contributes to the high availability of critical power loops.

Read more: Redundancy and fiber optics: discover the Nexto HX (Xtorm) power supplies

Switch and NIC Teaming modes in Nexto XF controllers

The Nexto XF series stands out for integrating two independent 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interfaces into a compact, high-performance design. With the support added in Mastertool X, these interfaces gain even more configuration flexibility, now offering three software-selectable modes directly within the environment:

– Single Mode: Both ports operate as fully independent logical network interfaces (with distinct IP ranges and isolated subnets), ideal for strict physical separation of industrial networks (for example, NET1 connected to field Profinet buses and NET2 pointing to the IT corporate network).

– Switch Mode: The ports operate interconnected through an internal switching integrated circuit (embedded switch). This allows for daisy-chain cabling, directly connecting one XF CPU to another in the panel, saving on additional switches and reducing electrical panel assembly costs.

– NIC Teaming Mode: Combines both physical channels to act under a single logical IP address. The network driver continuously monitors the active communication link. If a mechanical failure occurs on the main network cable connected to NET1, data traffic (such as MQTT publications or Profinet/Modbus transactions) seamlessly migrates to the NET2 interface, preventing continuous process downtime.

Check out our tutorial playlist for the Nexto XF series

Synchronization and diagnostic updates for the GL-9087 remote I/O

The G Series GL-9087 Profinet field remote I/O, which integrates up to 10 analog or digital input/output modules under the Profinet Slave standard, received a logical parameterization update to its XML catalog within Mastertool X.

The main fix addresses a Profinet network desynchronization issue that occurred after long, uninterrupted active scan cycles. With the new update, physical output freezing on the distributed field remote I/O is eliminated, ensuring that the status read by the PLC is replicated with millisecond precision on remote control and diagnostic panels, directly improving plant OEE.

Read more: 4 tips for measuring OEE correctly in your industry

Ladder editor enhancements and fixes

The Mastertool X Ladder editor (LD Editor) has also undergone improvements. In addition to general usability enhancements, a logical tree issue within the editor has been resolved:

The problem: When creating parallel branches containing arithmetic operator blocks (such as addition, multiplication, or PID calculations) and removing the contact positioned immediately before that operator, the compiler unexpectedly corrupted the connections in the Ladder rung, compromising the integrity of the control logic.

The solution: Mastertool X stabilizes the bus during these operations, allowing the deletion of parallel contacts to occur without disrupting the logical links of adjacent arithmetic blocks. This fix ensures that field logic changes can be performed with absolute safety, eliminating the risk of accidentally sending inverted or deactivated commands to process actuators.

Synchronized event grouping on the HX3040 CPU

With the new Mastertool X update, a fix has been implemented in event grouping that now allows the same event point to be simultaneously directed to multiple logical log groups.

ATTENTION: The controller must run firmware version 1.14.86.8 or higher.

This enhancement eliminates the need to duplicate tag mapping logic to send the same protection alarm or critical command to different data consumers (such as local SCADA systems and remote telemetry centers). The simplification of the logical log distribution architecture ensures simultaneous report logging without overloading the CPU’s internal processing queue, safeguarding the system against critical log losses during cascading events.

Latency reduction in MODBUS slave to 5 ms

The MODBUS protocol is widely adopted due to its simplicity in variable communication; however, in applications requiring high response speeds, such as synchronized variable frequency drive control or intensive automation systems, the traditional PLC driver can become an operational bottleneck.

By reducing the minimum interval of the task read by the MODBUS Slave driver from 20 ms to just 5 ms, Mastertool X enables Nexto Series CPUs to respond with exceptionally high agility when requested by local SCADA systems or network masters.

The result is a significant improvement in the update frequency of field variables, enabling Nexto CPUs to respond much faster to requests from local SCADA systems or network masters, and reducing latencies in distributed control architectures where every millisecond counts.

IEC 61850 client fix for .CID file import

In high-voltage substation automation buses, the IEC 61850 standard is the international benchmark for stable and secure control.

Within Mastertool X, integration with IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices, such as protection relays) is performed through the direct import of .CID files into the platform’s integrated client.

The new update fixes an interpreter flaw in these files that caused crashes when processing configurations containing addressing parameters under the OSI model. With this fix, event tag reading and mapping now occur automatically and in full compliance with regulatory standards.

Guaranteed integrity during CPU changes

In retrofit projects or control capacity expansions, engineering teams often need to replace the project’s existing CPU model. In less optimized tools, this process requires the manual reconfiguration of complex communication interface parameters, increasing engineering time and the potential for migration errors.

Mastertool X eliminates this bottleneck. When changing the CPU model in the project’s hardware tree, the software automatically preserves the configuration of the Serial, Ethernet, and CAN communication interfaces. As a result, parameters such as MODBUS tables, CANopen settings, IP addresses, and other communication adjustments are seamlessly transferred to the new controller. This feature minimizes risks and accelerates the upgrading of systems already in operation.

Whether in smaller applications or distributed control systems with thousands of I/O points, Mastertool establishes itself as a strong technological foundation for developing increasingly modern, scalable solutions aligned with the demands of the new industry.

Download the Mastertool X update

Read the user manual here

[110,67,111
531,1099,1090,532
post-21876","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-innovating-automating","category-products","category-technology","tag-mastertool","tag-mastertool-x","tag-mt9000","tag-mtools
["GET
