Heavy Vehicle Manufacturer

Modernizing the Control and Supervision System

A major heavy vehicle manufacturer, specializing in the production of trucks and buses, sought Altus solutions as the ideal technology to optimize the automation system of the test line in one of its production units in Europe.

Efficient Control System for the Test Line

To automate a long-duration testing platform in the heavy vehicle production line, a control panel was developed using the Nexto Series of programmable controllers. Combined with other controllers offering advanced functional safety and HMIs, Nexto was responsible for monitoring the test station that inspects the axles and wheels of the manufacturer’s vehicles.

The NX3010 CPU was selected for this project, where the MODBUS TCP protocol facilitated communication between the main controller, safety controllers, and HMI. The system also included analog and digital I/O modules in the NX rack. The seamless communication with the supervisory system and fast acquisition of field data were crucial to the success of this implementation.

The project creation wizards and graphical configuration environment enabled the integrator to quickly get up to speed, allowing the project to be completed in a short time frame.
