GDFS Essequibo

Modernization of control and supervision systems

The patrol vessel GDFS Essequibo, commissioned into the British Navy in 1985 and subsequently sold to a South American country in 2001, had its control and supervision systems upgraded with Altus products and solutions technology.

The modernization, carried out by a Rio de Janeiro-based company, involves extensive upgrades to the control systems for the ship’s crane, propulsion (main engines and propellers), auxiliary machinery, and emergency generator—systems that are critical to the vessel’s overall operation.

For this project, Altus provided two of its flagship products: the Nexto Series programmable controllers and the SCADA/HMI BluePlant software. These modern, high-performance controllers use state-of-the-art technology to ensure reliability and connectivity, meeting the standards set by leading global certification bodies.
