Security and speed for maximum efficiency, stability, and reliability

The Connect Series devices incorporate smart management tools that provide comprehensive project control and visibility. By leveraging the Network Management System (NMS), you can centralize performance monitoring and asset tracking of connected equipment, effectively optimizing network traffic and enhancing operational efficiency.

To ensure cybersecurity and high availability, the devices feature advanced functions such as anti-looping and ICMP flood protection (anti-ping). These mechanisms block unauthorized simultaneous connections and mitigate processor overhead, preventing device crashes or system failures.

Furthermore, utilizing a multimode configuration, the series’ media converters can be seamlessly integrated with Nexto CPUs to establish a ring topology. This architecture enables remote access to digital and analog I/O modules at distances of up to 2 km without compromising performance or signal integrity.

Fully integrated with Altus’ established product portfolio, the Connect Series provides a rugged, flexible, and high-performance framework capable of meeting the stringent technical and operational demands of both domestic and international markets.

Capable of operating in the most critical atmospheres

The compact and robust design of the series’ equipment allows it to be used in harsh environments, such as industrial plant control rooms and electrical substations, without compromising network traffic. With an IP30 security rating, the products are protected against solid particles up to 2.5 mm, as well as impacts, vibrations, corrosion, and rust.

Their aluminum casing not only provides greater strength and durability but also enhances the devices' cooling capacity, enabling them to operate in areas with extreme temperature fluctuations.

Ideal for distributed systems

The Connect Series offers rugged industrial switches ideal for reliable, secure automation networks. The unmanaged models are available with up to 16 Ethernet ports, support redundant power input, and offer multimode SC fiber options. All feature an IP30-rated metal housing, DIN-rail mounting, and operation across industrial temperature ranges.

The managed models add advanced capabilities such as VLAN, QoS, SNMP, static routing, and redundancy protocols like ERPS and RSTP. They can be configured via Web, CLI, Telnet, SSH, and HTTPS, with support for RADIUS and TACACS+ authentication. Some variants include fiber ports and IEEE 802.1X protection.

This series combines security, performance, and flexibility in a single portfolio, a reliable solution for modern industrial networks.

Advanced network management features

Through the Network Management System (NMS), performance and accounting management of network-connected devices can be centralized, reducing network traffic. Designed specifically for industrial environments with critical applications, NMS provides a comprehensive platform for monitoring, configuring, and maintaining IP-based communication networks, such as those found in industrial automation architectures, mining, substations, and maritime and military applications.

Available for free download from the Altus website, the software supports the monitoring of up to 16 devices.

NMS features include: - Management of IP-based devices from a central office and remote locations - Automatic network discovery and topology visualization - Device configuration via SNMP, web, Telnet, and SSH - SNMP v1/v2c/v3 browser and SNMP MIBS compiler - MSR group management (network redundancy protocol) - Performance manager to reduce network traffic

Ensuring network stability and availability

Unlike conventional network rings that have only one manager, the Connect Series can operate in redundancy mode using the Multiple Super Ring (MSR) architecture. This feature, available in the ET5-0802-M model, prevents issues in critical points and ensures network stability and control.

Another feature that enhances the high availability concept of Altus’ managed switches is the speed of their process restoration routine. The series' equipment has a failure recovery time of up to 5 ms and link recovery of 0 ms, ensuring fast and stable operation.
